Learning that a medical doctor or other hospital staff member has been negligent in the care provided for a loved one can be a very frustrating experience. When situations in Louisiana result in brain injuries, families may experience anger in the devastating aftermaths of such incidents. A hospital outside Louisiana has come out fighting against a lawsuit filed on behalf of a man who died several months after visiting the emergency room. Those filing the hospital negligence claim say the man was left unattended by staff members, which led to him falling and hitting his head. He suffered serious injuries in the fall, from which he was unable to recover.
Thousands of medical procedures, surgeries and treatments take place in hospitals and care facilities throughout the nation on a daily basis. When a patient in Louisiana entrusts his or her care to a medical professional, a reasonable assumption can be made that all doctors, nurses and other staff members will provide the safest, most thorough care possible, according to accepted standards and regulations. This is not always the case, however, and many patients have suffered serious brain injuries and other catastrophic harm due to medical negligence and error.
